Biography

Émilie Fend was born in Strasbourg, France, in 1995. After her DEM at the "Conservatoire de Strasbourg" and her Bachelor in Musicology at the "Université de Strasbourg", she received her Bachelor of Music with distinction at the HfMT Cologne in 2022 in the class of Prof. Goran Krivokapic, with whom she started her Master of Music in the same year.

Already in the first years of her training, Émilie Fend had the opportunity to perform alone and in ensembles in several renowned halls in France and Germany, including the Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden, or the Historische Stadthalle in Wuppertal.

Participation in international competitions allows her to measure herself against the professional environment, as evidenced by a first prize at the "HASPA Guitar Cup" at the Hamburg Guitar Festival in 2022 and the "NRW Guitar Prize - Stephen Goss" in 2023, as well as prizes at the Iserlohn Guitar Festival, Nürtingen Guitar Festival and Harmonia Cordis in Romania in the same year. The expansion of musical horizons is explored in workshops such as the Italian Guitar Campus, the Seicorde Academy and the Zbaszyn Guitar Worshop under the direction of Lukasz Kuropaczewski. In addition, she has given numerous masterclasses with internationally renowned guitarists at various events.

Her most recent activities have included a concert as soloist with the String Orchestra of the HfMT Cologne performing Leo Brouwer's "Tres Danzas Concertantes", as well as the world premiere of three original works for guitar and clarinet commissioned by Emilie Fend and her duet partner Andreas Hermanski, leading to a world premiere concert at the internationally renowned Koblenz International Guitar Festival and a recital at the 2nd International Guitar Festival Wuppertal". Activities for 2023 include a prizewinner's concert and masterclass at the Hamburg Guitar Days, the double concerto Madrigal by Joaquin Rodrigo with the Symphony Orchestra of the HfMT Cologne, and the release of several recordings, including a chamber music CD with original works for guitar and clarinet, a solo CD on the Acoustic Music Records label, participation in the accompanying CD of the Italian classical music magazine issue Suonare News.
