Biography

After winning a classical double bass medal from the City of Paris (Thierry Barbé), he took up jazz with Riccardo Del Fra, Pierre Boussaguet, Gildas Boclé and Joëlle Léandre. In 2014, he met Scott Colley and Larry Grenadier and left to further his teaching at Berklee College of Music (Boston USA) in summer 2014.

Convinced that pedagogy and creation are the two lungs of a fertile artistic approach, Clément Landais is now a State-qualified jazz teacher and solo double bass accompanist for the Dance department at the CRR Normandie, while simultaneously cultivating, with appetite but without haste, a generous, singular and sensitive artistic personality.

In 2017, after several weeks in the USA, he recorded his first album as leader INLAND (Hypnote Records May 2019). He is also co-founder of the GRAMMY 2019 nominated band “2X2”, with whom he records more of his compositions (Origin February 2018). The same year sees the release of Franck Terrier's debut album “Keep on Smiling”, and in 2020 Clément co-produces and produces the Uptown Jazz Trio's second opus “Rencontre Satie” (TapeAddict2020).

In 2020, he will create the music for a dialogue between a double bassist and an actor, based on a text by Giordano Bruno, “Le Souper des Cendres”, and directed by Laurent Vacher, premiered in November 2020.
