Biography
Stewart Eaton studied viola and piano at the Royal College of Music, receiving the prestigious Entrance Scholarship. He studied the viola with Frederick Riddle and Margaret Major, and took part in master classes with Hugh Bean and Yfrah Neaman.
Mr. Eaton continued his studies with Piero Farulli, Hariolf Schlichtig, Peter Schidlof and Michael Tree.
From 1979 to 1981 he was the main viola of the Orchestra Teatro alla Scala, on the invitation of Claudio Abbado. Other orchestral activities include being main viola of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and working with the Academy of St-Martin. In 1981 Stewart Eaton co-founded the Auryn Quartet. His other chamber music work has included playing with Boris Pergamenschikow, Tabea Zimmermann, Isabelle van Keulen, Peter Orth, the Haydn Piano Trio of Vienna, Fontenay Trio, Trio Opus 8, and the Beethoven Piano Trio. Frequent solo appearances have recently included performing at the Rheingau festival and at the EXPO 2000 in Hanover.
Mr. Eaton teaches at the Musikhochschule Detmold.
